The on-line petition calling for enhanced road safet measures along Gunthorpe Road has rceived a update in its functionatlity! Visitors can now share the campaign with a mere click on all of the leading social networks, the petition form has also been revamped, to make it easier for supporters to fill out and a street view map to help grasp the road settings has been embedded.

Commenting, local LIB DEM ward councillor, Darren Fower said:

“In 2005 the Tory controlled City Council informed the South Werrington and North Gunthorpe FOCUS Team that a “Speed Management Strategy” along Gunthorpe Road would be implemented within the following financial year. Guess what? It wasn’t!

“Ever since then we’ve been calling for action, recognising that nearby housing development, expected general increases in car ownership and of course an ever increasing population, will mean that the strain on road safety on this stretch will increase. There have already been fatalities on this road in the past and I for one would prefer to see a policy of prevention rather than cure!”
