Poor parking standards persist in some areas of Gunthorpe

by Cllr Darren Fower on 24 April, 2016

In recent months, I’ve been contacted by a number of local residents who have raised concerns about some vehicles parking on the pavements, in a way that forces pedestrians to step into the road. Whilst I appreciate that these days some households have more than one car, we would ask drivers to show a little more consideration […]

Having already covered areas like Dukesmead, Carron Drive, Helmsdale Gardens, Church Street, Werrington Grove, Staverton Road etc. the local team of volunteers are aiming to complete the survey by the end of March – possibly sooner if enough people take advantage of the new FREE online offer!

The decision to go online, in keeping with the local Liberal Democrats aim to show greater accessibility and efficiency, while maintaining green credentials, has been welcomed by local Lib Dem ward councillor Darren Fower, who said:

“The City Council are forever telling us they are consulting with local taxpayers, but how easy do they actually make it for people to record their thoughts and share their opinions about their local area?

“Providing an online version of the Resident Survey form will enable people to download it, fill it out and email the completed form direct to either myself or the team!”

Members of the South Werrington and North Gunthorpe FOCUS Team are eager to point out that, while the new service will help those either out at the time of calling or who may be physically unable fill out the form on the doorstep, that online is not the only way and therefore they will also be out and about on the door in the coming weeks, speaking directly with people and listening to the issue that matter to them.

To ensure they are easily accessible to local residents, the South Werrington and North Gunthorpe FOCUS Team have already:

• Launched a presence on Google!

• Launched their own Twitter account – updated regularly!

• Launched their own Facebook Page!

• Set up an online subscription to receive E-FOCUS news direct to your inbox!

• As well as launch two daily online newspapers specific to the Werrington and Gunthorpe areas!
